We do not sell, rent, or share the content of your text messages, calls, call
recordings, voicemails, or contacts with any third party for advertising, marketing, analytics,
or any other purpose. Your communications are processed only to deliver the Service you requested
— and only by the providers strictly required to carry that traffic (your own Twilio account) and
to notify your device (Google Firebase). See
"SMS & Call Data — No Third-Party Sharing" below for the full detail.
1. Who we are
SoftPhonez is operated by SoftPhonez, based in
Islamabad, Pakistan. For any privacy question or request, contact us at
support@softphonez.com.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Information you provide
Account details — your email address, display name, and a securely hashed password.
Twilio credentials — your Twilio Account SID and Auth Token, which you enter to connect your number. These are stored encrypted at rest and used only to operate calling and messaging on your behalf.
Your Twilio phone numbers and their configuration (recording on/off, greetings, forwarding numbers, voicemail/alert emails).
Contacts you add — names, phone numbers, and optional photos you save in the app, plus any contact lists (e.g. CSV files) you upload for bulk SMS.
Support communications — anything you send us via the contact form, email, or WhatsApp.
2.2 Communications content & metadata
Messages — the content of SMS/MMS you send and receive through your Twilio number, including media attachments, so they sync across your devices.
Call recordings — only when you enable recording for a number. Recordings are stored so you can play and download them in the app.
Voicemails — recordings left by callers, stored so you can listen to them and (optionally) forwarded to an email address you set.
2.3 Device & technical information
Push token — a Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) token used to deliver incoming-call and message notifications to your device.
Device & diagnostic data — device model, operating-system version, app version, IP address, and crash/error logs used to keep the app reliable.
Usage data — basic interactions (e.g. pages or screens visited) to improve the Service. Our website uses cookies/analytics (Google Tag Manager) for the same purpose.
2.4 Android permissions (and why)
The Android app requests only the permissions it needs to function:
Microphone — to transmit your voice during calls.
Notifications — to ring you for incoming calls and alert you to new messages.
Contacts (optional) — only if you choose to pick a contact or sync your phonebook; you can decline and still use the app.
Phone state / audio routing & Bluetooth — to manage call audio and route to headsets or car kits.
Ignore battery optimizations (optional) — to receive calls and messages reliably when the app is in the background.
3. How we use your information
To deliver the core Service — connecting calls, sending/receiving messages, recording (when enabled), voicemail, and bulk campaigns through your Twilio account.
To sync your conversations, call history, contacts, and recordings across your devices in real time.
To send push notifications for incoming calls and messages.
To forward voicemails and missed-call alerts to an email address you configure.
To provide support, troubleshoot issues, and keep the Service secure and reliable.
To process your subscription and prevent fraud or abuse.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use the content of your messages, calls, or recordings for advertising.
4. Who we share information with
We share data only with the service providers needed to run the Service:
Twilio — your messages and calls are carried by Twilio under your own Twilio account. Twilio acts as the carrier/communications provider and processes traffic per Twilio's Privacy Notice.
Google Firebase (Cloud Messaging) — delivers push notifications to your device.
Google Play Billing — processes in-app subscription purchases on Android. We do not receive or store your full payment-card details.
Email delivery — voicemail-forwarding and alert emails are sent via our email provider.
Legal — we may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users or the public.
5. SMS & Call Data — No Third-Party Sharing
Because SoftPhonez handles sensitive communications, we want to be explicit about how this data is
treated:
We never sell your data. The content of your SMS/MMS messages, call audio, call recordings, voicemails, call logs, and contacts is never sold or rented to anyone.
We never share it for advertising, marketing, or analytics. Your communications content is not used to build profiles, target ads, train unrelated models, or shared with data brokers, ad networks, or any other third party for their own purposes.
We only use it to operate the Service. Messages and calls are processed solely to send, receive, record (when you enable it), sync across your devices, and notify you — the functions you asked for.
The only parties involved are required service providers. Your traffic is carried by Twilio under your own Twilio account (Twilio is the communications carrier), and push notifications are delivered by Google Firebase. These providers process data only to deliver the Service and are bound by their own privacy and security commitments — they do not receive your data for their independent use.
You stay in control. You can delete any message, call record, recording, or voicemail at any time, and you can delete your entire account and data on request (see Section 8).
The only exception is a lawful request: we may disclose data if we are legally compelled to do so, as
described above. Outside of that, your SMS and call data stays private to you.
6. Call recording & consent
Call recording is off by default and only active when you enable it for a number.
Recording laws vary by country and region, and many require that all parties be informed before a
call is recorded. You are responsible for complying with the laws that apply to you —
for example, by using the in-app greeting feature to announce that a call may be recorded. You must
only record calls you are legally permitted to record.
7. Data retention
We keep your account data, messages, call history, recordings, and voicemails for as long as your
account is active, so they remain available across your devices. You can delete individual messages,
calls, recordings, and voicemails at any time from within the app or web dashboard. When you delete
your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we
must retain it to comply with legal obligations. Note that Twilio may retain communications logs
independently under its own policies.
8. Your rights & choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can:
View and edit your profile and number settings in the app or web dashboard.
Delete individual messages, calls, recordings, and voicemails yourself.
Revoke Android permissions at any time in your device Settings.
Manage or cancel your subscription in Google Play (Android) or your workspace settings (web).
8.1 Account & data deletion
You can request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time by emailing
support@softphonez.com from your registered email address,
or by using the in-app account-deletion option where available. We will verify your request and delete
your account and personal data, subject to the retention exceptions in Section 7. To learn more or to
start a request, visit
softphonez.com/contact.
9. Security
We protect your data with industry-standard measures: all traffic is encrypted in transit over HTTPS,
and sensitive credentials (such as your Twilio Auth Token) are encrypted at rest. No method of
transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information and continually improve
our safeguards.
10. Children's privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from
children. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
11. International data transfers
We and our service providers (including Twilio and Google) may process and store your information in
countries other than your own. Where required, we take steps to ensure your data receives an adequate
level of protection wherever it is processed.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the
"Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email. Your continued use
of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
13. Contact us
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or your data, contact us:
